This little egg-nest was taken only several hundred feet away from the location of Rocky Road ([link]).
I stumbled (not literally!) upon it while attempting to intercept some beautiful ducks that were cautiously treading in the area. My buddy Aaron noted that as one of the larger ducks flew away it flew as if it were injured. "There's a nest around here," he told me. Puzzled, I inquired. "When a nesting duck plays injured, it's a tactic it uses to lure the predator away from the next." Within only two minutes we found the nest. After shooting a whole truckload of shots, we walked back to the car (where I then shot the picture Rocky Road). On the way back I thought about the discovery in fascination. A mother is willing to play injured and risk drawing attention of hunters/predators in order to keep her egglings safe! Amazing! It's a blessing of nature. We left the eggs untouched (the mother kills all eggs that have the predator's scent on them) and went on our merry way. Post-processing: Sepia-toned Increased Saturation |

FAV FAV FAV!
Though I wonder what a Ci'ara and a nestfull of eggs does on a hot date?
Hmm, I can think of several corny, distasteful one-liners to say, but I'll be nice and withhold them
Thanks for the Fav! Riiiiighteeeouuussss!
